1What exactly is a rental deposit?
A deposit is a bank pre-authorisation: the amount is not charged, it is held on your card at pick-up and released on return if the car comes back in proper condition. It guarantees the excess, the amount you would have to pay in case of damage.
For many customers the issue is the card limit: holding thousands of dirhams for the whole stay reduces the budget available for the rest of the trip. Hence the appeal of a “no-deposit” rental.
2Our 3 plans: deposit from MAD 8,000, MAD 2,500 or MAD 0
| Plan | Extra cost | Deposit | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Included | From MAD 8,000 | Comprehensive insurance, excess from MAD 8,000 |
| Comfort | +MAD 200/day | MAD 2,500 | Reduced excess, theft and glass breakage covered |
| Premium | +MAD 350/day | MAD 0 | Zero excess, theft and glass breakage covered |
So the “no-deposit” option is the Premium plan: you pay a daily extra, and in return nothing is held on your card and nothing is left for you to pay for a covered incident.
3How much does a no-deposit rental really cost?
Examples at our public rate, with a Dacia Sandero (price decreasing with duration) and the Premium extra:
| Duration | Rental only | Premium extra | Total, no deposit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | 3 × 190 = MAD 570 | 3 × 350 = MAD 1,050 | MAD 1,620 |
| 7 days | 7 × 180 = MAD 1,260 | 7 × 350 = MAD 2,450 | MAD 3,710 |
| 14 days | 14 × 170 = MAD 2,380 | 14 × 350 = MAD 4,900 | MAD 7,280 |
The extra weighs heavily on a small car: over 7 days it costs more than the rental itself. That is the price of total peace of mind. The Comfort plan is often a good compromise: 7 × 200 = MAD 1,400 extra, with only MAD 2,500 held.
If your card has enough limit, Standard remains the cheapest option, since the deposit is only a temporary hold. If your card budget is tight, or you want zero excess, choose Premium.
4What is still required, even with no deposit
- A driving licence held for at least 2 years (foreign licences in Latin script accepted).
- An ID document: national ID card or passport.
- A minimum age of 20 (25 for premium, hybrid and electric models and the KGM Rexton), with a young-driver surcharge of MAD 50/day between 20 and 25.
- Compliance with our general terms: the car may not leave Morocco and must be returned with the same fuel level.
Good to know: “no deposit” does not mean “no responsibility”. Traffic fines remain the driver's responsibility, and prohibited uses (racing, drink-driving…) are not covered by any plan.
5Traps to watch for in “no deposit” offers
- A hidden excess: some offers remove the deposit but leave a high excess to pay if there is damage. Always ask for the excess amount.
- Exclusions: tyres, windows, underbody… Check what is really covered.
- A teaser price that excludes insurance: always compare the total price including extras.
- A different car from the one booked: ask for the exact category and gearbox.
