Car rental insurance and excess in Morocco: Standard, Comfort or Premium?

Excess, deposit, glass breakage, theft: insurance is the least clear part of a rental. Here are our three plans explained simply, with worked examples to help you choose.

In short : all our rentals include Standard comprehensive insurance (MAD 8,000 excess and deposit). The Comfort plan (+MAD 200/day) cuts the excess and deposit to MAD 2,500 and covers theft and glass breakage. The Premium plan (+MAD 350/day) brings excess and deposit down to MAD 0, with 24/7 assistance and a replacement car.

1Excess and deposit: what is the difference?

  • The excess is the maximum amount you pay in case of covered damage.
  • The deposit is the amount held on your card during the rental to guarantee that excess. It is released on return if everything is in order.

The more complete the plan, the lower the excess and deposit. That is the principle of our three levels.

3Which plan should you choose? 3 profiles

A short city stay, card with a good limit

The Standard plan is often enough: no extra cost, and the deposit is released on return.

A 7- to 10-day road trip

The Comfort plan is a good balance: over 7 days, MAD 1,400 extra for an excess reduced to MAD 2,500 plus theft and glass cover, useful on long roads and paved mountain routes.

Zero worries, or a card with a low limit

The Premium plan: nothing held, nothing to pay for a covered incident, and a replacement car if needed.

Tip from our agency

Do the maths over the whole rental: over a month, the difference between Standard and Premium exceeds MAD 10,000. For long rentals, Standard with careful driving is often the best choice.

4What is never covered

  • Personal belongings left in the vehicle.
  • Prohibited uses: racing, carrying dangerous goods, sub-letting, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Leaving Moroccan territory, which is strictly prohibited.
  • Traffic fines, which remain the driver's responsibility.

5What should you do after an accident?

  1. Get to safety and secure the vehicle.
  2. If anyone is injured, call 15 (ambulance) or 177 (Gendarmerie).
  3. Inform MobilityLine immediately on WhatsApp, 24/7.
  4. Fill in an accident report with the other party, if applicable.
  5. Report the incident within 24 hours at most, and do not admit liability without our agreement.
