Cheap car rental in Casablanca: 7 hidden fees to check

A very low headline price does not mean a cheap rental. Here are the seven fees that push up the bill, and how to compare offers on the real total price.

In short : the real price of a rental is the total price: daily rate, insurance, deposit, fuel, options and any return fees. At MobilityLine, our public prices start at MAD 170/day (Dacia Sandero for 14+ days) and MAD 200/day for 1 to 2 days, Standard insurance and VAT included, with no admin fee.

2The 7 hidden fees to check before signing

1. A very high deposit

Some rental companies show a low price but hold a large sum on your card. Always ask for the deposit amount. With us: from MAD 8,000 on Standard, MAD 2,500 on Comfort, MAD 0 on Premium.

2. An undisclosed excess

The excess is what you pay if there is damage. A teaser price can hide a high excess. Ask for it in writing.

3. The fuel policy

“Same level out and back” is the fairest rule: you return the car with the fuel level you received it with. Beware of tanks charged at inflated prices. With us, a tank returned short is charged at the cost of fuel plus a MAD 100 administrative fee.

4. Delivery and handover

Hotel delivery, airport handover, return in another city: ask for the price. At MobilityLine, delivery in town costs MAD 100 (except Casablanca, where handover is at the airport or our Aïn Chock agency).

5. Additional and young drivers

A second driver often costs a daily extra: MAD 50/day with us, and MAD 50/day for a driver aged 20 to 25.

6. Late returns

A late return can cost a full day. With us: one hour's grace, then a MAD 50 administrative fee and one extra day for each 4-hour period of delay.

7. Compulsory options

GPS, baby seat, extra insurance: they should remain your choice. Check that no option has been added without your agreement.

4How to pay less without bad surprises

  • Rent for longer: from 7 days the daily price drops by 10%, and by 15% from 14 days.
  • Choose the right size: a city car is enough for two people in town.
  • Keep the Standard plan if your card has the necessary limit.
  • Book early in summer: the cheapest models go first.
Tip from our agency

Always compare two offers on the same basis: same category, same gearbox, same excess and same length. A MAD 30 difference per day can vanish as soon as you add insurance or a different deposit.
